2024 MACC Malt & Hops Homebrew Contest

The Milton Area Chamber of Commerce (MACC) is excited to announce the 1st Annual MACC Malt & Hops Homebrew Contest in partnership with Good Works Brewing Co! Join the fun as we elevate our Malt & Hops Fest experience by offering this fun competition with prizes awarded for 1st and 2nd place in each category. A grand prize for the Best of Show award will also be presented with that winner provided the opportunity to brew their creation at Good Works Brewing Co.

Entry Acceptance Rules:

1)     Limit of three (3) beer entries per brewer, with limit of one (1) beer entry per style category.

2)     Competition will utilize BJCP 2021 Style Guideline.

3)     The competition organizers are not responsible for entries that are categorized incorrectly. If there is a question of how to categorize an entry contact the competition coordinator.

4)     Bottles Requirements:

a.      Two (2) 10-14 oz Bottles (capped or corked) or Cans per Entry.

b.      Each entry shall be void of all identifying information, including labels and embossing. Printed caps are allowed, but must be blacked out completely.

c.      Bottles (or cans) will not be returned to contest entrants.

d.      Submit one (1) completed entry form per beer and a bottle identification form. A bottle identification form should be attached to each bottle (i.e., with rubber band).

e.      Assure all forms are fully completed. Be meticulous about noting special ingredients that must be specified for the category.

5)     All entries must be handcrafted products, containing ingredients available to the general public, and made using private equipment by hobbyist brewers (i.e., no use of commercial facilities or Brew on Premises operations, supplies, etc.).

6)     The competition committee reserves the right to combine categories based on number of entries. All possible effort will be made to combine similar styles. All brews in combined categories will be judged according to the style they were originally entered in.

7)     The Best of Show judging will be determined by a Best of Show panel based on a second judging of the top 4 scored entries across all style categories.

8)     Please fill out the entry forms completely. Be meticulous about noting any special ingredients that must be specified. Failure to note such ingredients may impact the judges' scoring.
